To celebrate Sawyer’s 7th birthday, along with our newly found love of all things Marvel, we booked a five night Disney Marvel Day at Sea cruise out of Miami.  Below is a brief summary of each of the days of our cruise with links to the full blog posts with photos and more!

Disney Marvel Cruise Travel Day

In order to ensure that we could maximize our time on the ship, we booked a hotel in Miami the night before embarkation.  Our travel day was relatively uneventful as we made the roughly four hour drive from Orlando to Miami.  Emily had picked out a Tiki type restaurant that we stopped at for dinner which provided quite the amusing start to our vacation.

Disney Magic Cabanas Miami

We awoke on embarkation day and discovered Hunter had a case of the nerves and ended up throwing up a few times in the morning.  This of course had us quite concerned thinking that he we be sick and we would be in quarantine on the ship.  Luckily a short morning nap fixed him up and he was feeling 100%.  The remainder of embarkation day was a blast and we were excited to be on the Disney Magic.  We also enjoyed the picturesque view of the Port of Miami out the back of the ship.  Be sure to check out our photos from the embarkation day post as well as read more of our adventures.

Disney Magic Cruise Key West 2019

Our first port of call was Key West, Fl where we got off the ship and enjoyed a day of exploration.   We had breakfast at this quaint restaurant called Blue Heaven, followed by a walking tour.  From the Southernmost Point, to the entire length of Duval St., we took in as much of Key West as our legs could handle.  We capped it off with a frozen key lime bar from Kermit’s before returning to the ship for some evening fun.

Disney Magic Marvel Cruise Bahamas 2019

We followed up our busy day in Key West with a chill, ship day, when the Disney Magic was docked at Nassau, Bahamas.  We enjoyed some time on the water slides in the morning, followed by exploring the ship.  We got our popcorn and headed to Wreck it Ralph Breaks the Internet in the afternoon.  The boys hit up the Oceaneer Club in the evening and Emily and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Palo.

Disney's Castaway Cay Beach Cabana 2019 Quite possibly the most magical day of the cruise came at Disney’s Private Island of Castaway Cay.  On embarkation day we put in for the waiting list for a private beach cabana at Castaway.  As luck would have it we got selected and it made this magical island even more magical.  We savored every last minute from all ashore to all aboard.

With the holidays behind us, we quickly turned the corner to Sawyer’s birthday in January. Emily, who never shies away from a good theme, had her heart set on Sail The SEVEN Seas with Sawyer for Sawyer’s birthday this year. Of course, a Disney Cruise would be the perfect thematic accompaniment to this idea, and Emily was laser focused on… Read more »

After a long day of work, school, travel prep, and travel to Miami yesterday, we were hoping to get a good night’s rest before boarding the five night Disney Magic Marvel Cruise. Unfortunately, just because you plan to sleep in or well doesn’t mean that it is actually going to happen. Both Hunter and Sawyer had stuffy noses leading up… Read more »

After a rather unusually hectic embarkation day on the Disney Magic, we were crossing our fingers that everyone would wake up healthy and ready to hit the ground running (or at least walking) in Key West, FL.  Hunter and I managed to get up around 5 am and couldn’t get back to sleep, which in turn woke Emily up, so… Read more »

I was up at my normal 6:30 a.m. as the rest of the gang was still fast asleep.  I plopped down at a table on deck nine with my portable keyboard and enjoyed some morning blogging as the ship approached the island of Nassau in the Bahamas.  I was reflecting on the previous two days, appreciating the fact the the… Read more »

Disney Marvel Cruise 2019 – Castaway Cay (Day Four)

After wrapping up our third day on the Disney Magic at the island of Nassau, I wrote about how blogging about our vacations really makes me appreciate all of the fun that is packed into a day on the cruise.  From our embarkation day in Miami, to our Key West adventures, and our day exploring the ship while docked in… Read more »

I awoke at my customary 6:30 am to the sound of sleep breathing surrounding me.  We had finally arrived at the day that the boys were most waiting for, Marvel Day at Sea.   Although this was the theme of this five night cruise, you would have been hard pressed to find any Marvel themes during the first four days.  It… Read more »

The dreaded disembarkation day was upon us as we grumbled out of our slumber around 6:30.  While we weren’t excited to be finished with our spectacular cruise, we were looking forward to our day.  Our plan was to take our time driving back from Miami to Orlando, enjoying the sights, sounds, and eats along the way.  Before we could do… Read more »
