Road Trip ’05 – Day 9

Today was day 1 of the card making extravaganza that converts the Hayes residence into a madhouse of women with stamps and eyelet tools in the quest to make the perfect gift card. This has been a Langlois’ (my mother’s sisters) tradition for a few years now, and how happy am I that they were able to show Emily something else that she can spend money on, stamping. In all seriousness they all had a blast being creative making cards, and it was quite fun to watch.

The men took the boys to the playground where they got to swing and slide to their hearts’ content. The weather was a bit overcast and looked of rain, but nothing ever came. After playing at the park we returned to the Hayes household for some lunch. The ladies actually tore themselves away from the production line for long enough to get a mouthful of food, and then they were back to work. I spent the rest of the afternoon working on the computer, even though I did not get as far with my journal writing as I would have liked. The women kept on stamping and creating new and better greeting cards.

After the afternoon came to an end, it was time to head to my uncle Jim’s for a Wisconsin barbeque. For those of you who know I have two uncles named Jim; this one is on my mom’s side. The entire Langlois family was in attendance, so it was enjoyable seeing them all again and getting a chance to visit. They grilled brats, corn on the cob, and had potato salad and all of the fixin’s (and we all know how Emily loves fixin’s). It was a delicious meal and a great time. After dinner we rolled ourselves home and called it a night. Another fun day in Wisconsin.
