Another beautiful and calm morning on the Disney Fantasy. Having just enjoyed two awesome island days at Aruba and Curacao, we were happy to have a relaxing day to enjoy the ship. I woke up at my normal vacation time of 6:30, made my way up to deck 11 to get my Diet Coke, and wrote my Hayesvision.com blog posts while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Not sure you can beat this location.
I returned to the room from my blissful and relaxing morning to find everyone still crashed out in the same spots where I left them. Emily and Hunter were reading their books, and Sawyer was still fast asleep. I took the opportunity to chill for a bit longer in the room. The three of us got ready to go for the morning while Sawyer got some additional sleep. Hunter and I even had some time to get a couple of games of 31 (card game) in. Sawyer finally arose at 10 am (super late for this kid) and we headed up to join the crowds for breakfast at Cabanas.
After consuming our fill of food, sunshine, and ocean breeze, it was off to deck two for another rousing round of Midship Detective Agency. Hunter wanted to put his own spin on the game, so we decided to pair up in teams of two and compete against each other to see who would win. Emily and Sawyer were team one, and we agreed to let them go first so they could have a bit of a head start. It was a fun game and it was neck to neck (as Sawyer would say), but Hunter and I ended up beating Sawyer and Emily to the last location spot by about 30 seconds. Nail biter, let me tell you.
All that running around the ship can sure build up an appetite in the course of 45 minutes. It was time for our daily snack break at the Vista Cafe. We devoured our chocolate squares, peanut butter bars, and oatmeal cookies and made our plan for the afternoon. Our first stop would be Buzz and Woody character meet and greets on deck 3 atrium at 1:00 and 1:30. The boys were great sports getting their photos taken with two of the legendary icons of their childhood.
Since Cabanas had a closing time of 2:15 we needed to to get a move on if we were going to get there for lunch. Hunter was craving a burger, so we grabbed the boys some food from the quick service area, and Emily and I picked up some food from Cabanas. It is hard to believe this was just our second lunch at Cabanas in the six days we had been on the ship. We got a table next to the water play area which was a big mistake because lunch was so loud we couldn’t even hear ourselves think.
After lunch it was time for the shops on deck 3 forward to let the boys spend the gift cards they got prior to coming on the ship. Coming off the heels of seeing Cars 3 a couple nights prior, they were all about getting some toy cars from the movie. We headed back up to the room to tear them open and let the boys race their new beauties. I took a spin around the ship and captured some photos and maybe an ice cream cone as well. After I returned, we all went up to deck 11 for a delicious ice cream cone before we took the boys to the Oceaneer Club, so they could play and Emily and I could enjoy some quiet time with a Captain’s Mai Tai relaxing outside on deck four. It was the perfect break in the day to recharge the batteries.
We returned to the room around 6:15 and got ready for the evening activities. The first thing we wanted to do was attend the Captain’s signing at White Caps on deck three forward. Hunter had purchased a Disney Fantasy cruise ship replica on a previous cruise, and we thought it would be cool to get it signed. Emily also purchased a neat matted piece of art that had the four ships that we wanted to get signed too.
After I finished getting ready I picked up the boys from the Oceaneer Club and brought them back to the room to get ready. We put the finishing touches on, gathered our goods, and made our way to deck three. Captain Fabian was awesome and even mentioned that he remembered meeting us when we got our photo with him a few nights prior. He is definitely our favorite captain to date! Emily returned our signed goods to the room while I picked up drinks for us at the bar on deck 3 midship (do you detect a theme?), and we all met downstairs for our dinner at Enchanted Garden. We caught up with our tablemates about what we had all done on our third day at sea for the cruise as well as what the plans were for the following day at St. Kitts. I believe I had mentioned that the dinner service left a little to be desired the previous night, but the team seemed to have it together tonight, providing the top notch Disney service. The boys with their lack of sleep and extremely high sugar levels made dinner a relaxing one for all. At the point that they started performing surgery on their bread rolls we agreed that the Oceaneer Club would be the perfect place for them to burn some energy while we finished our dinners. Our tablemates did the same and we enjoyed about 10 desserts between four people and had some great conversation.
After dinner, Emily texted Hunter and it sounded like the boys were having a great time. We decided to get a nightcap before heading back to the room. We have never had a drink at the Irish pub O’Gills before, so we pulled up a couple of stools at a table, ordered some drinks, and listened to the solo musician play a few tunes. Much nicer than the previous day we tried to visit and sat next to a group that was so loud we had to leave. (We are old.) Our night was brought to an end with a call from the Oceaneer Club that Sawyer was ready to be picked up. We got the boys and headed back to the room, where we were greeted by 4th of July swag in our sea stocking and a message from Stateroom Santa which read:
There is nothing quite like a day at sea
A time to relax and recharge the batteries.
Your next destination awaits when you dock at the port
The beautiful St. Kitts Marriott Beach Resort
So be sure to pack goggles, beach toys, and sun screen
And prepare to explore a resort you’ve never seen.
Your assignment today, if it’s not too much of a hassle
Is to build the most amazing & exotic sand castle!
We had our task for the following day so there was only one thing left to do, room service! Since Emily and I were absolutely stuffed from dinner only the boys got their customary warmed up chocolate chip cookies and milk. Although it was a day at sea we managed to do a ton of fun things! We are excited for our day at St. Kitts to do some swimming and snorkeling!
