harvest-08-08.jpg(AP) March 1, 2008 – Tom Hayes played a solid round Saturday to win the 22nd annual Harvest Classic.  The final 18 holes were played on the North Course at the Innisbrook Golf Resort.  Tom played a nearly flawless round knocking down four birdies walking his way to his 3rd Harvest Classic title.

The final four pairing consisted of Tom Hayes, Kent Dickson, Jim Hayes and Patrick Hayes.  The group played well but was no match for Tomharvest-08-22.jpg

The round one leader Vern Shukoski could not figure out what happened to game as he slipped from first place to fifth prior to round four.  Vern again refused to visit the press tent after Saturdays round because of sheer frustration.  He said don’t worry I will be back in 2009.

After the tournament came to a completion the competitors divided into teams for the Harvest Scramble.  As with scrambles from previous years there was no winner after 18 which forced a four hole playoff and a putt-off to determine the winner.  As the light had left the course Don Hayes, Vern Shukoski, Jeff Riester and Patrick Hayes were victorious after Don Hayes stuck the 50 foot putt to two feet for the win.

Another enjoyable Harvest Classic has come to a close.  As always thank you to the Hayes brothers and Vern Shukoski for organizing and sponsoring this incredible event.
