It has been roughly a half of a year that Kee (Emily’s Mom) has been going through treatment for breast cancer. \u00a0Those of you who have been through cancer, or close to someone who has, know that it takes quite a toll, not only on the body, but on the spirit as well. \u00a0What has been amazing about Kee this entire time is the optimism and courage that she has shown taking this thing head on. \u00a0Even when times were tough and she was unable to eat, she maintained a positive attitude and a determination to see the treatment through.<\/p>\n

Emily has also been an incredible support system to both of her parents through this incredibly challenging time. \u00a0Whether it was cooking an extra meal of Split Pea Soup (or Spit Pea Soup as I like to call it), tidying the house during the first rough treatments, or going out of her way to find a fun item at a store or online that she knew would pick up her mom’s spirits, she was always thinking of them. \u00a0As Kee was coming to the end of her second round of 20 weeks of treatment, Emily organized the family (as she does so well) to send photos of each of them giving a high five to the camera. \u00a0She then took the photos, cut them out, and made them into sign that Kee could take with her to treatment and know that her entire family was behind her and supporting her through this difficult time. \u00a0Apparently all her awesome nurses were super excited that she had a sign with her and even got some of their own pictures.<\/p>\n

As the photos rolled in I decided that we would also put these great photos into a video and set it to music. \u00a0Emily’s mom shared the video on Facebook<\/a> and received a ton of supportive comments and more photo high fives from her community. \u00a0In support of Kee, I wanted to share the video here as well and keep this post in the archives, not just to remember, but to also share with the boys as they get older, about how much courage life takes sometimes. \u00a0One of my favorite quotes that I found as I was making the video was, “Sometimes you have to go through things, and not around them.<\/em>” \u00a0This was a fitting quote for the video, but also one that applies to many aspects of life. \u00a0I hope you enjoy the video and please feel free to leave supportive comments below if you so choose.<\/p>\n
