Emily & Patrick's Road Trip Journal

Welcome to our Road Trip 2005 journal.  For those of you who followed along with our honeymoon journal this will be similar to that.  We will be departing Orlando, Fl , on Wednesday, August 10, and will be making our  way to Appleton, WI, on Saturday, August 13.   Along the way we will be making many stops and taking many pictures.  Check back here often for  updates and photos.  Hope you enjoy!

 

Road Trip Day 1 (Wednesday, August 10, 2005)

We started out on our voyage around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, departing from Walt Disney World.  Our goal was to make it through as much of Georgia as we could stay awake for.  Armed with more snacks than the entire Girl Scout troop of Florida, we hit the open road!   The trip through Florida was uneventful, except for the odd animal sighting in Northern Florida (which I wish I could share with you but it is one of the trivia questions and I am sworn to secrecy)!

The highlight of the Florida section of our trip was our stop at Whataburger!  This was our first trip to this fantastic restaurant and we enjoyed it immensely!  To find out more about the dining experience read Emily's food reviews!  You can see a couple of pictures of us enjoying our delicious Whataburgers right here.  After we got over the severe case of gut rot, we decided we should continue on our fantastic voyage. 

I have grown accustomed to my loving wife's requirement that we  stop at these places called "Welcome Centers" in every state we come across.  I am told it is because the bathrooms are the best, but I have not yet been able to tell the difference between these bathrooms and all other bathrooms I have come across in all of my travels.   In any case, we were mandated to stop at the Georgia Welcome Center.  The stop did allow us to get out of the car and stretch our legs, and also allowed me the opportunity to take a couple of pictures, one of which is posted to the left.   After the nice break we got back in the car and headed to our final destination of the day, Macon, GA.  Well, it is late so I will say goodnight and share day 2 with you tomorrow!
